Steven Drake spends as much time in the woods as anyone I know. From putting out and checking cameras, to shed hunting, to his day job of capturing epic photo’s around the world, Steven gets after it. In today’s podcast, Steven and I sit down to talk about using game cameras and what that scouting has done to help consistently kill big bulls. We also cover tips for using cameras and understand the bigger picture of elk behavior. In the same thread, Steven shares some tips for finding more sheds and using shed hunting to understand elk behavior.
It is always fun to talk strategy with someone who hunts so very different than myself. In fact, Steven very rarely uses a call of any kind and spends far more time dogging a heard and waiting for the perfect moment. We talk about how as a solo hunter this tactic can be much better for getting shot opportunities. This is a great conversation and definitely got me fired up for elk season.
