EP 117: Hunt Idaho: Tips for Planning an Idaho Backcountry Hunt with Colton Gibbins.

April 25, 2017 by Cody Rich

Idaho is the state that started it all for me. It was my first out of state hunt and for years I would just hunt Oregon and Idaho. Idaho is a great opportunity to put an extra tag in your pocket and be able to experience a great backcountry adventure. Idaho is a great place to be able to do your research and find some really great hunts. I have been hitting the go hunt insider this week combing through Idaho information and I think I found a new unit in Idaho that I wanna try this year and is over the counter. Every year I try and have at least one hunt that is somewhere new, sometimes its a bust and sometimes I find areas that I hunt for years.
Todays guest is a very accomplish young elk hunter named Colton Gibbins. Colton is a diehard elk hunter and elk hunting guide that has a great outlook on hunting in the backcountry. In this episode we cover some of the basics to getting started with hunting in Idaho and also things to consider for the upcoming draw. Idaho is known more for its opportunity than for its trophies but with no preference points everyone has an equal chance at some truly great limited entry tags. If you plan on hunting in Idaho this year be sure to throw your name in the hat for a chance at a once in a lifetime sheep, goat, or moose tag
