Ryan Lampers is one of the most successful mule deer hunters I know. In this podcast, we dive into preparedness and the role of luck. As it is tag season Ryan shares with us some great tips on application strategies for mule deer across the west and how he researches units. When you look at Ryan’s success it really is hard to believe the majority of the bucks he kills are on easy 1-2 point units or even OTC type hunts. That being said I know Ryan puts a lot of time into researching where he is going to hunt and is heavily focused on age over a unit’s genetic history. We cover what Ryan looks for in a unit which is hugely important.
We also, dive into preparedness and what effect that has on both of our success’ while hunting. One of the things I have noticed over the 300+ podcasts I have done thus far is that successful hunters are fanatical about preparation and preparedness. We dive into what exactly that means to Ryan and how that makes him a more successful hunter and person.
